Posing Newborns- Newborn Photographer Denver

Erin Barajas How did I get that shot, Portrait Sessions 1 Comment

I started photographing the W. Family last summer with A.W (older brother) first birthday. I was counting down the days to photograph little sisters newborn portraits. She’s here! I finally get to meet her!

Can we take a second and tips our imaginary hats to Momma W. You read that last paragraph right. This rock star momma has been pregnant for almost two years! But she sure did a great job of baking these kiddos. So precious.

During the session, I learned that little girl DOES NOT like to be un-bundled. She much prefers to be wrapped and bundled tight. Which leads me to this posts lesson of the day.

Not every baby will do every pose. Some babies do the froggie pose or tush in air and then there are some that it is very uncomfortable for. I do not push babies if they do not want to do a particular pose. They will let me know if they are uncomfortable or if the pose makes them feel insecure and we will change it up. I love when we have an idea in our heads of how the session is going to go and which poses we want to do. However; remember to leave some wiggle room and compromise according to what your newborn wants to do. I promise you will have beautiful portraits of your newborn at the end of your session. Just trust your baby.

Now with all this said, little A.W. and big brother A.W both did wonderfully. Newborn girl loved being in the bucket (again feeling of security) and settled down quite a bit.

Congratulations W. family on your little girl. And by the way, you have an amazing big brother on your hands!
